Trundles are available with link springs or box springs. Some of them also come with a Bunkie board or slat pack. Bunkie boards are thin wooden platforms. They fit inside the trundle frame and provide even support to the mattress. A slat pack is a number of wooden or metal slats that are attached to the frame of the trundle. So depending on your preference, the type of trundles can be selected, just like you would do for your bed.
The frame of a typical daybed features two arms and a back piece, making it take on the appearance, somewhat, of a sofa. The frame can be either platform or link springs, much like the box spring on a bed. Some day beds may be supported by a "bunkie" board or a rack of slats. Some daybed models may also feature a trundle that will allow for an additional mattress to be stored beneath it, and then taken out when an additional sleeping spot is required. Trundle daybeds may be "pop-up" units that feature a mattress that rolls out but is the same height as the rest of the bed, while others are a "pull-out" design that features a mattress on a glider or wheels that rolls out from beneath the main mattress.
One thing to consider when purchasing a daybed is the size that it is. Most of the time, they are smaller than the size of a standard bed, in length. They may be too small for some that need a larger sized bed. In addition, you want them to fit nicely in the area that you have for them. Since you can purchase various sized daybeds, you'll want to purchase the one that fills your needs in these areas.
Much like choosing a mattress for your own bed, daybed mattresses should be given the same time and consideration. You would not buy just any mattress for yourself and there is no reason that the mattress for your daybed should be overlooked either. Any over night guests you may have will thank you for your time well spent while picking out you mattress.
